Jeremias Moreno took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Felipe Barreto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 7 minutes into the game, Portugal's Felipe Barreto nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jeremias Moreno made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Portugal's Bruno Bastos managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Tales De Mileto in the 13 minute of the game. Portugal's Daniel Pimentel got a good chance for a goal in the 15th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 17 minutes into the match, ADM Taquaras's goal looked a bit too open when Felipe Barreto came free, but Jeremias Moreno reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 19 minutes into the match, Portugal's goal looked a bit too open when Oliver Bierhoff came free, but Wilson Amorim reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Fabricio Andrade had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Oliver Bierhoff in the 25th minute of play forced Portugal's goalkeeper Wilson Amorim to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Wilson Amorim showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Oliver Bierhoff, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jeremias Moreno prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 31 minutes into the match, Portugal's goal looked a bit too open when Oliver Bierhoff came free, but Wilson Amorim reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 35 minutes into the match, ADM Taquaras's goal looked a bit too open when Felipe Barreto came free, but Jeremias Moreno reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Portugal booed when ADM Taquaras was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leon Oinaz didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Oliver Bierhoff in the 40th minute of play forced Portugal's goalkeeper Wilson Amorim to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Viriato Moura stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Portugal's Felipe Barreto ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Jeremias Moreno. Jeremias Moreno yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-2. After a defensive mix-up in ADM Taquaras's zone, Daniel Pimentel stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jeremias Moreno came out of the goal and Daniel Pimentel tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Tales De Mileto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wilson Amorim having to interfere. A collision led to Portugal getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Faustino Almeida hit a great ball. 63 minutes had been played when some careless play by Portugal's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Malcolm Westerberg was slow to take the kick. During this time ADM Taquaras's players had a chance to rest. The goalkeeper smacked the ball away after a great corner, but Tales De Mileto advanced and headed the ball into goal, 2-2 in the 63rd minute. Portugal made a substitution. Felipinho Amorim replaced Felipe Barreto. Portugal made a substitution. Bartolomeu Dias replaced Viriato Moura. 69 minutes into the match, Oliver Bierhoff had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Wilson Amorim. Portugal's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Oliver Bierhoff was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-2. Portugal's Wilson Amorim played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Oliver Bierhoff in the 73rd minute of play. ADM Taquaras's attentive Malcolm Westerberg managed to snatch the ball when Faustino Almeida made a throw-in in the 75th minute of the game. After a rather tough play, Portugal's Faustino Almeida got a free kick in the 81st minute. A sloppy throw-in by Oliver Bierhoff in the 88th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Portugal's Felipinho Amorim. After a defensive mix-up in ADM Taquaras's zone, Felipinho Amorim stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jeremias Moreno came out of the goal and Felipinho Amorim tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 94 played minutes ADM Taquaras got a freekick which was hit by Cido Cabral. The supporters of ADM Taquaras booed when Portugal was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Faustino Almeida didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The ADM Taquaras fans cheered their team off the field, for while Portugal had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
