An unexpectedly hard shot by Frank Sachs in the 21st minute of play forced Leeds United FC's goalkeeper Dan Lundström to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 22 minutes had been played when some careless play by Leeds United FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Frank Sachs was slow to take the kick. During this time Germany's players had a chance to rest. In the 84th minute, Marc Öfverman ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tommy Kahn was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. In the 94th minute Marc Öfverman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tommy Kahn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 96 minutes into the game, Leonardo Melberg cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Tommy Kahn was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Leeds United FC's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
