In the 10th minute Wim Wilmes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Per-Olof Sikström saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Per-Olof Sikström took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wim Wilmes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 27th match minute, Messejana SportClub - DMZ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mário Veiga to maneuver through the defense. Kees Mooiweer kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. A collision led to Netherlands getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Mathijn Doctor hit a great ball. 35 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Penha came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With 38 minutes on the clock, José Paulo Seco commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Messejana SportClub - DMZ fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 37th minute. Penalty! Gijsbert ter Kruimer walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. If Juarês Melo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lars Meesters took the ball and in the 42 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Per-Olof Sikström. Per-Olof Sikström dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. After a rather tough play, Messejana SportClub - DMZ's Vladimir Serena got a free kick in the 46th minute. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Juarês Melo made the kick off in the second half. In the 60th match minute, Messejana SportClub - DMZ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Flavinho Neiva to maneuver through the defense. Messejana SportClub - DMZ's Bebeto Santos was substituted for Darío Furlan. Messejana SportClub - DMZ's André Luiz Pitta was substituted for Mário Veiga. Gustaaf Groeneveldt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Per-Olof Sikström having to interfere. Arnout Reekers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Juarês Melo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 71 minutes, Juarês Melo made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 74th minute, Wim Wilmes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lars Meesters in the 82nd minute of play forced Messejana SportClub - DMZ's goalkeeper Per-Olof Sikström to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 83rd minute Erik Silveira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnout Reekers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Per-Olof Sikström came out of the goal in the 84th minute to try and stop a shot by Netherlands's Wim Wilmes. But to his dismay, Wim Wilmes quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. Messejana SportClub - DMZ's Per-Olof Sikström played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wim Wilmes in the 87th minute of play. Yuri Alberto hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. Per-Olof Sikström showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wim Wilmes, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute.
