Brooklyn SC's Jospeh McNally played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 17th minute of play. After 20 minutes Brooklyn SC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Gijsbert ter Kruimer who took care of the corner kick. Lars Meesters made a great header on Netherlands's corner, it was just that Brooklyn SC's Jospeh McNally managed to reach the ball for a save. 22 minutes into the match, Trenton Long dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Arnout Reekers, 1-0. When the match had gone on for 26 minutes, David Eikelkamp put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Jospeh McNally. Arnout Reekers made a fantastic save in the 31st minute, when Trenton Long sent off a good shot on target. Gerardo Beard sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Trenton Long got free with Arnout Reekers in the 36th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Netherlands's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 41st minute. Gerardo Beard might have been able to make a better finish in the 44th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Arnout Reekers. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gerardo Beard ran back to his position shaking his head. After a rather tough play, Netherlands's Kees Mooiweer got a free kick in the 46th minute. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gijsbert ter Kruimer was the one to do the kick off. With a little luck, Brooklyn SC's Jospeh McNally got control of the ball when Wim Wilmes tried to sneak it across the goal line. Jospeh McNally made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 83rd minute. Gijsbert ter Kruimer recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 86th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to Brooklyn SC getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Sebastián Olivarez hit a great ball. Gijsbert ter Kruimer's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jospeh McNally read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 88th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dwight Schrute in the 90th minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 93 minutes, Elliot Whitley mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Brooklyn SC and the Netherlands players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Brooklyn SC getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Elliot Whitley hit a great ball. The supporters of Netherlands booed when Brooklyn SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luís Schmidt didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Netherlands eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
