Clemente Clemente showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Micah Macdonald, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. Khalid Kennedy was a little too slow when Kaja Jamak got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 14th minute. The score was now 2-0. With a little luck, England's Khalid Kennedy got control of the ball when Kaja Jamak tried to sneak it across the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Kyle Cox in the 20th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Clemente Clemente saved Charlotte FC from getting behind. Clemente Clemente took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kyle Cox, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Kyle Cox was the one to do the kick off. In the 56th minute the ball was on its way in behind England's goalkeeper Khalid Kennedy, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Khalid Kennedy didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Kareem Stoddard went, in the 60th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. In the 63rd minute, England's Eddie Willis seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Eddie Willis the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of England protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Eddie Willis had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After 63 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for England! In the 66th minute there was a penalty for Charlotte FC. Wander Suzanne stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Khalid Kennedy. 4-0. The audience was convinced that Xavier Gallagher's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Clemente Clemente was relentless in the 72nd minute of the game. Khalid Kennedy made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kareem Stoddard in the 74th minute of play. 76 minutes into the match, Wander Suzanne had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Khalid Kennedy. England's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Wander Suzanne was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-0. Seth Young didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Kaja Jamak had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 95th minute Björn Magnusson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Khalid Kennedy saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Kyle Cox struck a weak shot in the 97th minute. Clemente Clemente didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for England. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Charlotte FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while England had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
