An unexpectedly hard shot by Manfred Konradsson in the 3rd minute of play forced Barcellos Mineiro FC's goalkeeper Vânderson Saa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Barcellos Mineiro FC's Vânderson Saa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 9th minute of the match, managed to save Barcellos Mineiro FC from getting a goal against them. After 9 minutes, Ettore Petroni made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. Barcellos Mineiro FC's Vânderson Saa tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 24th minute Tang Yang Le suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. When Tomasz Resel fell near the penalty area in the 24th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Lemel SV's protests and gave Tomasz Resel a yellow card for diving instead. Barcellos Mineiro FC made a substitution. Celsinho Corrêa replaced Tang Yang Le. In the 25th minute, Tomasz Resel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Claudio Caniggia hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. George Wiklund took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dale Dolar, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Manfred Konradsson to make the kick off. George Wiklund showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dale Dolar, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. Vânderson Saa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ettore Petroni in the 62nd minute of play. João Augusto Mello fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vânderson Saa having to interfere. In the 72nd minute, Barcellos Mineiro FC's Dale Dolar dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-2. George Wiklund was out of position in the 84 minute of play, and Clóvis Vieira capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Clóvis Vieira really showed his touch with that goal: 1-3.
