Red Reign's Xavion Sorriva was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Arnout Reekers in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 21st minute Gijsbert ter Kruimer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dawid Ratulowski saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 25th minute, one of Red Reign:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Red Reign. Dawid Ratulowski had in the 26thth minute some difficulties stopping Gijsbert ter Kruimer's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. After some careless play in the Red Reign defense, Gijsbert ter Kruimer kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dawid Ratulowski. The Red Reign fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dawid Ratulowski should have stopped the shot. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Wim Wilmes in the 28th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dawid Ratulowski prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 30th minute, Red Reign's Maximo Villamarin dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. When Xavion Sorriva came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the Red Reign fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Xavion Sorriva couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wim Wilmes in the 37th minute of play forced Red Reign's goalkeeper Dawid Ratulowski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 39th minute, Red Reign's Maximo Villamarin dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-1. Arnout Reekers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Maximo Villamarin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Maximo Villamarin received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Arnout Reekers came out and tried to block the shot, but Maximo Villamarin slotted it home off the left post making it 3-1 in the 46th minute. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-1 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Maximo Villamarin to make the kick off.
