Spectators: 42 (Terracing: 32, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Zaccheo Andolina took the kick off in the first half of the match. In the 5th minute Alfredo Martins shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Flavio Vittori saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The throw-in from Valentin Vizitiu in the 7th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Italy's Siricio Liotta. Dida Taffarel stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Zaccheo Andolina's shot from short distance in the 9th minute. When the match clock showed 13 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Zaccheo Andolina sped through Marquês de Herval's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Dida Taffarel. Dida Taffarel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zaccheo Andolina, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The throw-in from Valentin Vizitiu in the 25th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Italy's Zena Busacca. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Alfredo Martins in the 27th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Flavio Vittori prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 30th minute Alfredo Martins shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Flavio Vittori saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 37thth minute of the game Zaccheo Andolina who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Marquês de Herval's Dida Taffarel was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Flavio Vittori took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alfredo Martins, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 41 minutes, Zaccheo Andolina managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Italy's supporters crossed their fingers, but Zaccheo Andolina was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Alfredo Martins took the ball and in the 46 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Flavio Vittori. Flavio Vittori dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Alfredo Martins to make the kick off. In the 55th minute the ball was on its way in behind Italy's goalkeeper Flavio Vittori, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Zaccheo Andolina's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dida Taffarel read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 60th minute of play. Dida Taffarel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sigfrido Auletta, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 70th minute, Alfredo Martins managed to get in a good position for a shot. Marquês de Herval's supporters rose to their feet, but Alfredo Martins was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Flavio Vittori breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpected shot in the 72nd minute by Zaccheo Andolina got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Dida Taffarel was out of position in the 72 minute of play, and Zaccheo Andolina capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Zaccheo Andolina really showed his touch with that goal: 1-2. After some fancy dribbling in the 76th minute, Zaccheo Andolina managed to get in a good position for a shot. Italy's supporters rose to their feet, but Zaccheo Andolina was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dida Taffarel breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 79th minute, Acácio Cunha hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Italy's Sansone Vanella was substituted for Gianpaolo Mascari. Italy's Adriano Curto was substituted for Zaccheo Andolina. After a rather tough play, Marquês de Herval's Acácio Cunha got a free kick in the 86th minute. Dida Taffarel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adriano Curto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 91 minutes into the game, Alfredo Martins cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Flavio Vittori was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Dida Taffarel was a little too slow when Adriano Curto got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 95th minute. The score was now 2-3. The Italy players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
