In the 17th minute the ball was on its way in behind Spain's goalkeeper Gabriel Ascaso, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Petter Skarkman's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 22ndth minute, Gabriel Ascaso skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 25th minute Protegéerna were awarded a corner. Michael Näver went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Protegéerna's Michael Näver to fire away a dangerous shot which Gabriel Ascaso despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Ingemar Åberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adria Bielsa in the 26th minute of play. Guido Python's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gabriel Ascaso read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 32nd minute of play. Gabriel Ascaso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Guido Python, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 38 minutes into the game, Guido Python cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Gabriel Ascaso was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 40 played minutes Protegéerna got a freekick which was hit by Ossi Eloranta. In the 42nd minute Spain were awarded a corner. Omar Toledo went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that David Aranda got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Ingemar Åberg quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Gabriel Ascaso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Petter Skarkman in the 44th minute of play.

51 minutes into the match, Spain's goal looked a bit too open when Guido Python came free, but Gabriel Ascaso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 52nd minute of the match Protegéerna got a corner. Spain's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Michael Näver ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Protegéerna's Michael Näver to fire away a dangerous shot which Gabriel Ascaso despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Gabriel Ascaso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Petter Skarkman in the 54th minute of the match. 60 minutes into the match, Spain's goal looked a bit too open when Guido Python came free, but Gabriel Ascaso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 61st minute Petter Skarkman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gabriel Ascaso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Petter Skarkman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Protegéerna's Jonny Ånger was substituted for Yasen Súlov. Protegéerna's Christer Nyberg was substituted for Guido Python. Christer Nyberg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gabriel Ascaso having to interfere. Protegéerna's Bo Låsberg was substituted for Fernando Arango. 75 minutes into the match, Protegéerna's goal looked a bit too open when Adria Bielsa came free, but Ingemar Åberg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gabriel Ascaso didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Petter Skarkman went, in the 79th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. If Sergio Ruiz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 84th minute, Spain's Sergio Ruiz ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Ingemar Åberg. Ingemar Åberg yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-1. Protegéerna's Ingemar Åberg proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 92nd minute of the match, managed to save Protegéerna from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Christer Nyberg in the 93rd minute of play forced Spain's goalkeeper Gabriel Ascaso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Protegéerna players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
