Spectators: 43 (Terracing: 33, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Rubinho Novaes started the match with the kick off. Arnout Reekers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marcelo Gallarde, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Genílson Carneiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arnout Reekers having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 7th minute, Marcelo Gallarde managed to get in a good position for a shot. Hala Madrid Iraki FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Marcelo Gallarde was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Arnout Reekers breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Arnout Reekers was a little too slow when Genílson Carneiro got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 9th minute. The score was now 1-0. In the 16th match minute, Hala Madrid Iraki FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rubinho Novaes to maneuver through the defense. Arnout Reekers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rubinho Novaes, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. After having played for 31 minutes, Wim Wilmes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Netherlands's supporters crossed their fingers, but Wim Wilmes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Arnout Reekers stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rubinho Novaes's shot from short distance in the 47th minute. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gijsbert ter Kruimer made a kick off. 50 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Ciro Di Marzio came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Gijsbert ter Kruimer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 53rd minute, Wim Wilmes managed to get in a good position for a shot. The corner was taken by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 69th minute. A nice corner shot did that Gijsbert ter Kruimer got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Ruben Montez quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Ruben Montez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 76th minute of the match. A hard shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer from long distance, 78 minutes into the match, got Ruben Montez's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Genílson Carneiro might have been able to make a better finish in the 79th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Arnout Reekers. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Genílson Carneiro ran back to his position shaking his head. Gustaaf Groeneveldt struck a weak shot in the 84th minute. Ruben Montez didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Netherlands. Lars Meesters sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hala Madrid Iraki FC's Ruben Montez proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 93rd minute of the match, managed to save Hala Madrid Iraki FC from getting a goal against them. In the 94th minute of the match Netherlands got a corner. Hala Madrid Iraki FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gijsbert ter Kruimer ran over to the corner to take the kick. Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Ruben Montez in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. The audience thought a goal was coming when Wim Wilmes got free with Ruben Montez in the 95th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
