The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Gijsbert ter Kruimer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 3rd minute. José Maria Goiano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 4th minute Gijsbert ter Kruimer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but José Maria Goiano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. José Maria Goiano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 6th minute of play. Netherlands's Egbert Nijveldt was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but José Maria Goiano in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. 12 minutes into the match, FC rossoneri SENICA's goal looked a bit too open when Gustaaf Groeneveldt came free, but José Maria Goiano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Erik Berky could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 14th minute of the match, but Arnout Reekers made a huge save. In the 15th minute, Gustaaf Groeneveldt made a precise shot to the right of José Maria Goiano. FC rossoneri SENICA's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Gustaaf Groeneveldt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. José Maria Goiano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 22nd minute of play. José Maria Goiano didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer went, in the 22nd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. A collision led to FC rossoneri SENICA getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Kurt Bastiaens hit a great ball. José Maria Goiano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. Netherlands's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 28th minute. 28 minutes into the game, Vinzent Van Gogh was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC rossoneri SENICA's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Netherlands the free kick. A collision led to FC rossoneri SENICA getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Vinzent Van Gogh hit a great ball. Arnout Reekers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Izydor Dzerwucki in the 33rd minute of play. If Wim Wilmes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Wim Wilmes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 40 minutes had been played when some careless play by FC rossoneri SENICA's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Gijsbert ter Kruimer was slow to take the kick. During this time Netherlands's players had a chance to rest. After 45 minutes, Kees Mooiweer mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Netherlands and the FC rossoneri SENICA players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 46 played minutes Netherlands got a freekick which was hit by Kees Mooiweer. After the first half Netherlands were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gijsbert ter Kruimer stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Gustaaf Groeneveldt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. José Maria Goiano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vinzent Van Gogh in the 56th minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Izydor Dzerwucki recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 57th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Arnout Reekers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vinzent Van Gogh, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. FC rossoneri SENICA's Janko Kozák managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Kees Mooiweer in the 63 minute of the game. Vinzent Van Gogh took the ball and in the 68 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Arnout Reekers. Arnout Reekers dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. FC rossoneri SENICA made a substitution. Stan Carpenter replaced Erik Berky. José Maria Goiano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 72nd minute of play. In the 74th match minute, FC rossoneri SENICA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vinzent Van Gogh to maneuver through the defense. Wim Wilmes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. José Maria Goiano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lars Meesters in the 85th minute of play forced FC rossoneri SENICA's goalkeeper José Maria Goiano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 85th minute, Lars Meesters left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Netherlands fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-3. Gijsbert ter Kruimer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. José Maria Goiano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 90th minute the ball was on its way in behind FC rossoneri SENICA's goalkeeper José Maria Goiano, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 93 minutes into the game, FC rossoneri SENICA's Vinzent Van Gogh nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Arnout Reekers made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-3. A collision led to FC rossoneri SENICA getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Kurt Bastiaens hit a great ball. When the match was over Netherlands could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than FC rossoneri SENICA throughout the match.
