Luiz Guilherme Melo had several of the Portugal's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 6 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-0 score and a disappointed Wilson Amorim as he didn't even see the shot coming. 10 minutes in the game Felipe Fontes did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Gavino Guter. 11 minutes into the match, Portugal's goalkeeper Wilson Amorim had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gavino Guter. In the 21st minute Felipe Barreto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Maximino Acevedo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Felipe Barreto blasted a shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Maximino Acevedo having to make a save. Maximino Acevedo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Felipe Barreto in the 23rd minute of the match. Portugal's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Felipe Barreto in the 27th minute. In the 36th minute, Fazendinha's Cristóvão de Barros dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. When Felipe Barreto came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the Portugal fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Felipe Barreto couldn't finish the play. The throw-in from Felipe Barreto in the 43rd minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Fazendinha's Alf Håning. Caetano Moreira hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The wind increased when Arturo Bondi made the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Viriato Moura in the 52nd minute of play forced Fazendinha's goalkeeper Maximino Acevedo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Portugal's Felipe Barreto got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristóvão de Barros in the 58th minute of play forced Portugal's goalkeeper Wilson Amorim to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Fazendinha's Maximino Acevedo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Felipe Barreto in the 60th minute of play. 62 minutes into the match, Portugal's goal looked a bit too open when Alf Håning came free, but Wilson Amorim reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Felipe Barreto got free with Maximino Acevedo in the 63rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With his leg Maximino Acevedo managed to avoid a goal in the 66thth minute, when Portugal's Felipe Barreto fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Viriato Moura in the 68th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Maximino Acevedo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Felipe Barreto could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 71st minute of the match, but Maximino Acevedo made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Viriato Moura in the 73rd minute of play forced Fazendinha's goalkeeper Maximino Acevedo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Portugal's Viriato Moura slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Maximino Acevedo. That made the score 2-1 after 73 minutes of play. Portugal made a substitution. Bartolomeu Dias replaced Viriato Moura. The throw-in from Felipe Fontes in the 79th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Portugal's Daniel Pimentel. Felipinho Amorim could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 80th minute of the match, but Maximino Acevedo made a huge save. In the 82nd minute, Luiz Guilherme Melo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Fazendinha fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. If Felipinho Amorim had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Maximino Acevedo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Felipinho Amorim in the 91st minute of play. Felipinho Amorim fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Maximino Acevedo having to interfere. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Fazendinha fans cheered their team off the field, for while Portugal had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
