Stefan Niziolek hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. Arnout Reekers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Concetto Chelodi in the 16th minute of play. Wim Wilmes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edwin Almodovar having to interfere. A collision led to Esquadrão Lusitano getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Afonso Pinhal hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 22nd minute of play forced Esquadrão Lusitano's goalkeeper Edwin Almodovar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 24th minute Gustaaf Groeneveldt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edwin Almodovar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Everton Cebollero took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 26th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Arnout Reekers. Netherlands's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. 28 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Saúl Aires came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Edwin Almodovar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. The wind increased when Gijsbert ter Kruimer made the kick off in the second half. But to his dismay, Gustaaf Groeneveldt quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. 60 minutes into the game, Esquadrão Lusitano's Everton Cebollero nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Arnout Reekers made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. Edwin Almodovar made a fantastic save in the 66th minute, when David Eikelkamp sent off a good shot on target. Edwin Almodovar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 67th minute of play. Netherlands's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 68th minute. Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Edwin Almodovar in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Gijsbert ter Kruimer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Netherlands booed when Esquadrão Lusitano was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Afonso Pinhal didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the final whistle sounded Netherlands left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Esquadrão Lusitano.
