Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Nicolás Castillo got the match started through his kick off. Manfred Fribäck didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Edward Vanderstraeten went, in the 3rd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. 8 minutes into the match, Erik Ljusberg notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Belgium's Casper Claes. Casper Claes was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The supporters of Belgium booed when Norrlands Athen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Frank Berglund didn't get a good kick on the ball. Edward Vanderstraeten struck a weak shot in the 12th minute. Manfred Fribäck didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Belgium. In the 18th minute Erik Ljusberg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Casper Claes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Erik Ljusberg got free with Casper Claes in the 21st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a rather tough play, Norrlands Athen's Frank Berglund got a free kick in the 22nd minute. The corner led to Norrlands Athen's Larry Tatum getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. 38 minutes into the match, Norrlands Athen's goal looked a bit too open when Edward Vanderstraeten came free, but Manfred Fribäck reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Norrlands Athen's Manfred Fribäck played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edward Vanderstraeten in the 39th minute of play. When Nicolás Castillo came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the Norrlands Athen fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nicolás Castillo couldn't finish the play. In the 44th minute, Jacinto da Silveira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Norrlands Athen's Qian Zhen Sheng got a free kick in the 46th minute. In the 48thth minute of the game Edward Vanderstraeten who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Norrlands Athen's Manfred Fribäck was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Edward Vanderstraeten made a kick off. Erik Ljusberg took the ball and in the 51 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Casper Claes. Casper Claes dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. Casper Claes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nicolás Castillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. Manfred Fribäck took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Simon Sabbe, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Edward Vanderstraeten recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 64th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Norrlands Athen made a substitution. Arvin Låsberg replaced Tord Lundin. Belgium's Casper Claes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gilbert Hermansson in the 72nd minute of play. 74 minutes into the game, Leandro Eguntsenti threw the ball into play from the sideline. Belgium's Sander Dermaut quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. 77 minutes into the game, Jacinto da Silveira was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Norrlands Athen's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Belgium the free kick. Casper Claes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Erik Ljusberg in the 86th minute of play. In the 88th minute Erik Ljusberg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Casper Claes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jacinto da Silveira kicked well hit freekick during the 90th minute of the match. If Siebe Michiels had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Casper Claes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gilbert Hermansson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. For all the effort they put into the match, the Belgium players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Norrlands Athen.
