Gilberto Boone stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gustaaf Groeneveldt's shot from short distance in the 7th minute. In the 10th minute Wim Wilmes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gilberto Boone saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 11 minutes into the game, Egbert Nijveldt was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Netherlands's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Varennes the free kick. In the 11th match minute, Netherlands was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Egbert Nijveldt to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wim Wilmes in the 13th minute of play forced Varennes's goalkeeper Gilberto Boone to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Netherlands's Arnout Reekers got control of the ball when Maurice Odonnell tried to sneak it across the goal line. Gilberto Boone came out of the goal and Gustaaf Groeneveldt tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Arnout Reekers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wendell Petit in the 33rd minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Wendell Petit in the 34th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Arnout Reekers prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Bernardo Goudreau received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Arnout Reekers tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gijsbert ter Kruimer recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Maurice Odonnell to make the kick off. Gijsbert ter Kruimer took the ball and in the 51 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Gilberto Boone. Gilberto Boone dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Wim Wilmes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 56th minute of the match, but Gilberto Boone made a huge save. In the 57th minute Netherlands were awarded a corner. Gijsbert ter Kruimer went to the cornerflag to take it. In the 59th minute, Lars Meesters left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Netherlands fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. Gijsbert ter Kruimer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gilberto Boone was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but David Eikelkamp showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-4 in the 64 minute of play. Titus Pineda kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. Gustaaf Groeneveldt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. That made the score 0-5 after 78 minutes of play. 82 minutes into the match, Varennes's Maurice Odonnell sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Arnout Reekers narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 83rd minute Varennes were awarded a corner. Théophile Berger went to the cornerflag to take it. After 85 played minutes Netherlands got a freekick which was hit by Gustaaf Groeneveldt. Gilberto Boone showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 87th minute of the match. Gilberto Boone made a fantastic save in the 88th minute, when Wim Wilmes sent off a good shot on target. Arnout Reekers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Seth Luke, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 90th minute the ball was on its way in behind Varennes's goalkeeper Gilberto Boone, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 95 minutes Varennes's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Gijsbert ter Kruimer who took care of the corner kick. Netherlands's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
