But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ronald Mc Donald couldn't finish the play. When Didi Rossi fell near the penalty area in the 7th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Time Pipoqueiro's protests and gave Didi Rossi a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Time Pipoqueiro's Didi Rossi got a free kick in the 7th minute. A collision led to Time Pipoqueiro getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Tostão Bastos hit a great ball. Switzerland's Hias Nüssli proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 11th minute of the match, managed to save Switzerland from getting a goal against them. Switzerland's Timo Siegmund quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Luiz Fernando Cerezo, made in the 13th minute of the game. The supporters of Time Pipoqueiro booed when Switzerland was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rodrigo von Känel didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ronald Mc Donald could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 17th minute of the match, but Hias Nüssli made a huge save. Jacinto Maurer hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. Switzerland's Hias Nüssli played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Xande Xande in the 21st minute of play. The supporters of Switzerland booed when Time Pipoqueiro was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Didi Rossi didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Time Pipoqueiro's zone, Jacinto Maurer stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dorival Travassos came out of the goal and Jacinto Maurer tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 41st minute Ronald Mc Donald shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hias Nüssli saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hias Nüssli took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ronald Mc Donald, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jacinto Maurer during the 47th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 47 played minutes Switzerland got a freekick which was hit by Jacinto Maurer. In the 48th minute, Switzerland's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Ronald Mc Donald fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ronald Mc Donald got free with Hias Nüssli in the 48th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Hias Nüssli showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Xande Xande, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. The throw-in from Luiz Fernando Cerezo in the 54th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Switzerland's Rodrigo von Känel. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ronald Mc Donald in the 64th minute of play forced Switzerland's goalkeeper Hias Nüssli to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 68th match minute, Time Pipoqueiro was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Didi Rossi to maneuver through the defense. Ronald Mc Donald sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The Time Pipoqueiro fans' excitement grew in the 83rd match minute when Time Pipoqueiro's Ronald Mc Donald looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 90th match minute, Switzerland was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jacinto Maurer to maneuver through the defense. In the 91st match minute, Time Pipoqueiro was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tostão Bastos to maneuver through the defense.
