The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Tord Åkerman took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Major Barna, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Hungary's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Antal Valentin in the 4th minute. Hungary's Antal Valentin was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Tord Åkerman in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Tord Åkerman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Major Barna in the 6th minute of play. Stanislaw Maziarski might have been able to make a better finish in the 7th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Fodor Daniel. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Stanislaw Maziarski ran back to his position shaking his head. The supporters of Hungary booed when Новгород TS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Georgiy Noskov didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 8th minute Antal Valentin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tord Åkerman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Major Barna struck a weak shot in the 9th minute. Tord Åkerman didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hungary. 11 minutes into the match, Новгород TS's goal looked a bit too open when Antal Valentin came free, but Tord Åkerman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Takacs Tibor fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tord Åkerman having to interfere. Major Barna might have been able to make a better finish in the 17th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Tord Åkerman. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Major Barna ran back to his position shaking his head. 18 minutes into the match, Major Barna notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Новгород TS's Tord Åkerman. Tord Åkerman was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Tord Åkerman came out of the goal and Major Barna tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 36 played minutes Hungary got a freekick which was hit by Takacs Tibor. 41 minutes into the match, Hungary's goalkeeper Fodor Daniel had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Viviano Baños. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Antal Valentin made a kick off. With a little luck, Новгород TS's Tord Åkerman got control of the ball when Major Barna tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 54th minute Stanislaw Maziarski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fodor Daniel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 65th match minute, Hungary was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Takacs Tibor to maneuver through the defense. Hegedus Henrik hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. 75 minutes into the match, Hungary's goal looked a bit too open when Yakov Blokhin came free, but Fodor Daniel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Новгород TS getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Máté Brothers hit a great ball. In the 81st minute Yakov Blokhin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fodor Daniel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Новгород TS were awarded a corner in the 83th minute after Hungary's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Georgiy Noskov took the corner. A well done corner resulted in Yakov Blokhin drilling the ball in to score 2-2 behind Hungary's goalkeeper. Major Barna could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 86th minute of the match, but Tord Åkerman made a huge save. If Major Barna had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Viviano Baños had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 92nd minute, Новгород TS's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Major Barna fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post.
