After 21 played minutes Portugal got a freekick which was hit by Fabricio Andrade. When Ömer Demirci came up free with the goalie in the 22nd minute, the KOCAELİSPOR fans jumped to their feet. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 82 minutes into the match, Caetano Moreira notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of KOCAELİSPOR's Şemsettin Tuyuğ. Şemsettin Tuyuğ was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Portugal's Wilson Amorim played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aşır Zabit in the 85th minute of play.
