In the 9th minute the ball was on its way in behind Belgium's goalkeeper Casper Claes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. A nice corner shot did that Federico Girotti got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Casper Claes quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 15th minute Federico Girotti shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Casper Claes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Edward Vanderstraeten might have been able to make a better finish in the 18th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Franc Armani. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Edward Vanderstraeten ran back to his position shaking his head. After a rather tough play, Belgium's Guillaume Bonte got a free kick in the 19th minute.
