If Gustaaf Groeneveldt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 12th minute, Gijsbert ter Kruimer managed to get in a good position for a shot. Netherlands's supporters rose to their feet, but Gijsbert ter Kruimer was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Miroslav Motuz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to FC XY getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Antón Macejko hit a great ball. Arnout Reekers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Orhan Veli Mirac in the 18th minute of play. Orhan Veli Mirac took the ball and in the 20 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Arnout Reekers. Arnout Reekers dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 23rd minute of play forced FC XY's goalkeeper Miroslav Motuz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 34 minutes had been played when some careless play by FC XY's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Gijsbert ter Kruimer was slow to take the kick. During this time Netherlands's players had a chance to rest. A well-hit corner resulted in Lars Meesters heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. FC XY's Miroslav Motuz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 37th minute of play. Miroslav Motuz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 42 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ján Krempašský. Miroslav Motuz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 43rd minute of play. After a rather tough play, Netherlands's Kees Mooiweer got a free kick in the 46th minute.

FC XY's Daniel Pavlovič was substituted for Ján Krempašský. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gijsbert ter Kruimer made a kick off. 55 minutes into the match, Netherlands's Wim Wilmes sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Miroslav Motuz narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 57th minute, Gijsbert ter Kruimer got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 61st minute Netherlands were awarded a corner. Gijsbert ter Kruimer went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner ended in Egbert Nijveldt almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but FC XY's Miroslav Motuz did a great save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Orhan Veli Mirac in the 66th minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gustaaf Groeneveldt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Miroslav Motuz having to interfere. Arnout Reekers stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Orhan Veli Mirac's shot from short distance in the 74th minute. Gustaaf Groeneveldts short, quick shot in the 76thth minute got Miroslav Motuz to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Orhan Veli Mirac in the 82nd minute of play. In the 85th minute, Gustaaf Groeneveldt ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Miroslav Motuz was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Orhan Veli Mirac in the 88th minute of play. Miroslav Motuz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lars Meesters in the 90th minute of play. Orhan Veli Mirac received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Arnout Reekers tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Despite being the better team, Netherlands failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
