Augusto Cordario blasted a shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Wilson Amorim having to make a save. With a little luck, Portugal's Wilson Amorim got control of the ball when Augusto Cordario tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 14th minute, Felipe Barreto made a precise shot to the right of Erwin Huygens. Velez Sarsfield's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Augusto Cordario could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 32nd minute of the match, but Wilson Amorim made a huge save. In the 35th minute the ball was on its way in behind Portugal's goalkeeper Wilson Amorim, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Faustino Almeida made in the 36th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Velez Sarsfield's Marcos Pacifico. The supporters of Portugal booed when Velez Sarsfield was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gaston Ávila didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 39th minute, Velez Sarsfield's Augusto Cordario dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-2. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Augusto Cordario stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 53 minutes, Gaston Ávila mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Velez Sarsfield and the Portugal players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Portugal booed when Velez Sarsfield was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gaston Ávila didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 67th minute Augusto Cordario shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wilson Amorim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Viriato Moura kicked well hit freekick during the 68th minute of the match. Portugal's Bartolomeu Dias was substituted for Viriato Moura. With 74 minutes on the clock, Javier Pinola commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Velez Sarsfield fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 73rd minute. Penalty! Erwin Huygens had in the 75thth minute some difficulties stopping Daniel Pimentel's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. When Augusto Cordario came up free with the goalie in the 79th minute, the Velez Sarsfield fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Augusto Cordario couldn't finish the play. Augusto Cordario fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wilson Amorim having to interfere. 84 minutes into the game, Velez Sarsfield's Augusto Cordario nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Wilson Amorim made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-2. Erwin Huygens showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bartolomeu Dias, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. Velez Sarsfield's Augusto Cordario got a good chance for a goal in the 90th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ago Tramp got a throw-in 93 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Leandro Berti. After 94 played minutes Velez Sarsfield got a freekick which was hit by Leandro Berti. After 97 minutes of play, Velez Sarsfield's Augusto Cordario made it 5-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Wilson Amorim was left in no man's land by his defense there!
