The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. VN Keleler's Velimir Popchev played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Pimentel in the 3rd minute of play. In the 4th match minute, Portugal was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Caetano Moreira to maneuver through the defense. Stuart Byman blasted a shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Wilson Amorim having to make a save. If Stuart Byman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 10 minutes into the match, Portugal's goalkeeper Wilson Amorim had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Doychin Konsulov. The crowd rose to their feet as Stuart Byman kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Wilson Amorim. That made the score 1-0 in the 17 minute of play. Wilson Amorim showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Doychin Konsulov, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. A nice corner shot did that Andreas Lund got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Wilson Amorim quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 22nd minute Felipe Barreto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Velimir Popchev saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hakkı Kenan Pınar got free with Wilson Amorim in the 24th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Felipe Barreto in the 25th minute of play forced VN Keleler's goalkeeper Velimir Popchev to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Velimir Popchev took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Felipe Barreto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 28 minutes had been played when some careless play by VN Keleler's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Felipe Barreto was slow to take the kick. During this time Portugal's players had a chance to rest. Velimir Popchev made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Viriato Moura in the 34th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Stuart Byman kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Wilson Amorim. That made the score 2-0 in the 35 minute of play. Velimir Popchev showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Caetano Moreira in the 38th minute of the match. 39 minutes into the match, VN Keleler's goal looked a bit too open when Felipe Barreto came free, but Velimir Popchev reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Daniel Pimentel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Velimir Popchev tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Wilson Amorim was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Hakkı Kenan Pınar showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 3-0 in the 44 minute of play.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Stuart Byman to make the kick off. In the 60th minute Stuart Byman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wilson Amorim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Felipe Barreto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. Portugal's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
