If Ezequiel Leizarraga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 45th minute of the match Omar Toledo sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Alexsandro Godoi skillfully saved the ball.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gustavo-Hernán Cabezudo was the one to do the kick off. Gustavo-Hernán Cabezudo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Gabriel Ascaso having to make a save. The crowd rose to their feet as Spain's Omar Toledo slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Alexsandro Godoi. That made the score 2-3 after 64 minutes of play. When David Aranda came up free with the goalie in the 72nd minute, the Spain fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that David Aranda couldn't finish the play. Alexsandro Godoi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sergio Ruiz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Spain were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
