With a little luck, Hungary's Fodor Daniel got control of the ball when Pankracy Malicki tried to sneak it across the goal line. Hungary's Fodor Daniel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adam Pacholewski in the 26th minute of play. Thomas Vollmars short, quick shot in the 31stth minute got Fodor Daniel to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. 33 minutes into the match, Hungary's goalkeeper Fodor Daniel had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Thomas Vollmar. 38 minutes into the match, Hungary's Major Barna sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Mikolaj Jerzyk narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Fodor Daniel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Thomas Vollmar in the 39th minute of play. Antal Valentin might have been able to make a better finish in the 40th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Mikolaj Jerzyk. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Antal Valentin ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 46th minute of the match, Thomas Vollmar tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Fodor Daniel saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Antal Valentin to make the kick off. Hegedus Henrik sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Mikolaj Jerzyk made an important save on a dangerous shot by Antal Valentin in the 54th minute. Hungary were awarded a corner in the 55th minute after Newcastle United's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Antal Valentin took the corner. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Newcastle United's goalie and right to Takacs Tibor. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Newcastle United's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. When the match clock showed 58 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Thomas Vollmar sped through Hungary's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Fodor Daniel. 61 minutes into the match, Major Barna dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Mikolaj Jerzyk, 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Thomas Vollmar in the 64th minute of play forced Hungary's goalkeeper Fodor Daniel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 69 minutes into the match, Thomas Vollmar had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Fodor Daniel. Hungary's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Thomas Vollmar was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. Olgierd Wojtowicz struck a weak shot in the 76th minute. Fodor Daniel didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Newcastle United. Adam Pacholewski's late challenge caught a Hungary's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Adam Pacholewski helped the player get up and apologised. After 79 played minutes Newcastle United got a freekick which was hit by Adam Pacholewski. Mikolaj Jerzyk was out of position in the 80 minute of play, and Takacs Tibor capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Takacs Tibor really showed his touch with that goal: 2-2. Takacs Tibor sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 91 played minutes Hungary got a freekick which was hit by Takacs Tibor. The supporters of Hungary booed when Newcastle United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adam Pacholewski didn't get a good kick on the ball. Newcastle United succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Hungary had controlled the match.
