Guillaume Bonte made in the 3rd minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Yves Dervaux. Sander Dermaut hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. SSV Ulm 1846's Don Merlot got a good chance for a goal in the 9th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Don Merlot's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Casper Claes read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 13th minute of play. Belgium's Casper Claes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alberigo Sessa in the 15th minute of play. Timo Courtois showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edward Vanderstraeten, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. 18 minutes into the match, Belgium's Edward Vanderstraeten sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Timo Courtois narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Timo Courtois showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edward Vanderstraeten in the 21st minute of the match. Edward Vanderstraeten blasted a shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Timo Courtois having to make a save. Belgium's defense didn't have a chance, in the 29th minute, when Don Merlot scored to the left of an out of position Casper Claes, making the score, 1-0. In the 40th minute Belgium were awarded a corner. Edward Vanderstraeten went to the cornerflag to take it. After 45 played minutes Belgium got a freekick which was hit by Sander Dermaut. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Edward Vanderstraeten was the one to do the kick off. SSV Ulm 1846's Timo Courtois played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edward Vanderstraeten in the 51st minute of play. After having played for 57 minutes, Alberigo Sessa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SSV Ulm 1846's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alberigo Sessa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Yves Dervaux in the 59th minute of play forced SSV Ulm 1846's goalkeeper Timo Courtois to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Casper Claes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Don Merlot in the 70th minute of the match. With a little luck, SSV Ulm 1846's Timo Courtois got control of the ball when Edward Vanderstraeten tried to sneak it across the goal line. Belgium's Casper Claes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alberigo Sessa in the 73rd minute of play. In the 75th minute SSV Ulm 1846 were awarded a corner. Sven-Olof Lilja went to the cornerflag to take it. Casper Claes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alberigo Sessa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 88 minutes of play, Belgium's Edward Vanderstraeten made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Timo Courtois was left in no man's land by his defense there! Casper Claes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alberigo Sessa in the 93rd minute of the match. In the 94th minute SSV Ulm 1846 were awarded a corner. Sven-Olof Lilja went to the cornerflag to take it. Belgium were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing SSV Ulm 1846 to leave the ground with a draw.
