In the 72nd minute Gijsbert ter Kruimer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nicanor Loiola saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 76 minutes in the game, Gustaaf Groeneveldt fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Nicanor Loiola having to interfere. Arnout Reekers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Erik Lamela in the 78th minute of the match. Gery Hidayat hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in BASEL FC's zone, Gijsbert ter Kruimer stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nicanor Loiola came out of the goal and Gijsbert ter Kruimer tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gijsbert ter Kruimer recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 93rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Treno Lentoft kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. In the 96th minute of the match, Gustaaf Groeneveldt got a very nice opportunity to score, but Nicanor Loiola was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Netherlands had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
