The referee ignored Alba FC's protests and gave Alexander Quadrini a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Alba FC's Alexander Quadrini got a free kick in the 6th minute. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. The supporters of Alba FC booed when Ninjas in Pyjamas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pavel Teaşcă didn't get a good kick on the ball. Davide Muzzolon struck a weak shot in the 8th minute. Gelu Bornescu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Alba FC. After 14 played minutes Ninjas in Pyjamas got a freekick which was hit by Sorin Burdulea. If Emiliano Malandra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Gelu Bornescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Emiliano Malandra in the 20th minute of play. If Bruno La Marca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 28th minute the ball was on its way in behind Alba FC's goalkeeper Antonio Di Donato, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Edoardo Rubini kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. In the 31st match minute, Ninjas in Pyjamas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Robert Onofrei to maneuver through the defense. Iosif Mihele kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. Antonio Di Donato made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Robert Onofrei in the 39th minute of play. In the 39th minute Robert Onofrei shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Antonio Di Donato saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 40th match minute, Ninjas in Pyjamas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Manuel Zaharia to maneuver through the defense. Alberigo Di Michele got a throw-in 44 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Bruno La Marca. Antonio Di Donato showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Robert Onofrei, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Emiliano Malandra to make the kick off. In the 50th match minute, Ninjas in Pyjamas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ionuț Măcriș to maneuver through the defense. 53 minutes into the match, Ninjas in Pyjamas's goal looked a bit too open when Carlo Sisti came free, but Gelu Bornescu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 54 minutes, Amos Martorella mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Alba FC and the Ninjas in Pyjamas players grew even worse after the yellow card. The referee showed Manuel Zaharia the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. If Iosif Mihele had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Robert Onofrei sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 74 minutes into the game, Robert Onofrei was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ninjas in Pyjamas's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Alba FC the free kick. Ninjas in Pyjamas's Gelu Bornescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emiliano Malandra in the 82nd minute of play. Robert Onofrei recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 86th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.
