Portugal were awarded a corner in the 25th minute after Kjønstad BF's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Felipe Barreto took the corner. Portugal's Faustino Almeida was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Fred Bonk in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Fred Bonk stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Viriato Moura's shot from short distance in the 27th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Viriato Moura in the 27th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Fred Bonk prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Viriato Moura in the 28th minute of play forced Kjønstad BF's goalkeeper Fred Bonk to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Fred Bonk showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Viriato Moura, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.
