Caleb Barrett took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Manuel Boteanu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Romania booed when Andorra was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sidney Attenborough didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ed Potterton made in the 23rd minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Romania's Remus Pincharoen. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Manuel Boteanu in the 30th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Caleb Barrett prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 32nd minute, Larry Hallam ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Niculae Ailenei was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Manuel Boteanu to make the kick off. When the match clock showed 55 minutes, the score became 2-1 when Manuel Boteanu sped through Andorra's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Caleb Barrett. An unexpectedly hard shot by Manuel Boteanu in the 64th minute of play forced Andorra's goalkeeper Caleb Barrett to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Manuel Boteanu struck a weak shot in the 68th minute. Caleb Barrett didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Romania. Andorra's attentive Darius Greenman managed to snatch the ball when Serginho Ramos made a throw-in in the 73rd minute of the game. After 79 minutes, Larry Hallam made it 3-1 with a short kick to the right side. Romania's Niculae Ailenei tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. 87 minutes into the game, Emanuel Mălăele was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Romania's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Andorra the free kick. In the 87th minute, Emanuel Mălăele hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
