Stefan Rasiak made an important save on a dangerous shot by Michael Ahlroth in the 3rd minute. Tadeu Xavier was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. 35 minutes into the game, Leonardo Pisculichi recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Stefan Rasiak. Leonardo Pisculichi showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-1. Stefan Rasiak stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Michael Ahlroth's shot from short distance in the 42nd minute. After a rather tough play, Ψ virgen Ψ's Celso Gar got a free kick in the 43rd minute. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

America Futebol Clube SP's Jeronimo Rico was substituted for Zézinho Costa. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Michael Ahlroth to make the kick off.
