In the 10th minute Camille Baume shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mehmet Kerem saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A sloppy throw-in by Sandro Coisne in the 18th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by France's Remy Dupuy. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tsinamdzghvrishvili Højlund in the 25th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Maxime Durand prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Alexis Bruneau kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. France's Remy Dupuy got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 29 minutes into the game, France's Robert Chapuis nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Mehmet Kerem made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Mehmet Kerem showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Frank Peletier, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tsinamdzghvrishvili Højlund in the 36th minute of play forced France's goalkeeper Maxime Durand to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Maxime Durand made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tsinamdzghvrishvili Højlund in the 48th minute. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Frank Peletier stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
