Spectators: 50 (Terracing: 38, Seating: 11, VIP seats: 1) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. The supporters of Sydney FC booed when Belgium was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sander Dermaut didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 12th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sydney FC's goalkeeper Sebastian Titz, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Sebastian Titz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edward Vanderstraeten, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. 33 minutes into the match, Belgium's goal looked a bit too open when Önder Cebi came free, but Casper Claes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With his leg Casper Claes managed to avoid a goal in the 34thth minute, when Sydney FC's Emanuel Ogășanu fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Casper Claes made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Edward Vanderstraeten sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 94 minutes into the game, Sydney FC's Angelo Milanese nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Casper Claes made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. When Ferdinand Mendy fell near the penalty area in the 97th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sydney FC's protests and gave Ferdinand Mendy a yellow card for diving instead. In the 97th match minute, Sydney FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ferdinand Mendy to maneuver through the defense. Sydney FC were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Belgium for a fine match.
