Panionios MK's Manel Garrincha suffered a concussion in the 2nd minute, after a hard challenge, and had to leave the field. After 2 minutes, Szekeres Tamas mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Hungary and the Panionios MK players grew even worse after the yellow card. Panionios MK's Zisis Chronidis was substituted for Manel Garrincha. Szekeres Tamas hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. Argyris Ksagorarakis kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. A collision led to Panionios MK getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Zisis Chronidis hit a great ball. If Takacs Tibor had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Szekeres Tamas hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. In the 14th minute, Themos Leontiadis got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Antal Valentin in the 15th minute of play forced Panionios MK's goalkeeper Alketas Bourouselos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Szekeres Tamas made in the 20th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Takacs Tibor immediately put the ball in play. Allan Corrigan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 21st minute of the match, but Fodor Daniel made a huge save. Szekeres Tamas made in the 25th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Major Barna. Alketas Bourouselos came out of the goal in the 26th minute to try and stop a shot by Hungary's Antal Valentin. But to his dismay, Antal Valentin quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Themos Leontiadis's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Fodor Daniel read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. Szekeres Tamas got his second yellow card in the match during the 32nd minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. The supporters of Panionios MK booed when Hungary was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Szekeres Tamas didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alketas Bourouselos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Balazs Lajos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Fodor Daniel didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Panionios MK's Allan Corrigan shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 1-1 in the ordered_time% minute. Fodor Daniel stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Themos Leontiadis's shot from short distance in the 43rd minute. If Takacs Tibor had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Major Barna to make the kick off. With an all-out effort, Hungary's Alketas Bourouselos threw himself towards the right post 52 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Major Barna, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Alketas Bourouselos made an important save on a dangerous shot by Major Barna in the 58th minute. Antal Valentin hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. Alketas Bourouselos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Major Barna, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Allan Corrigan in the 70th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Fodor Daniel saved Hungary from getting behind. In the 72nd minute of the match Panionios MK got a corner. Hungary's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Argyris Ksagorarakis ran over to the corner to take the kick. Panionios MK's Argyris Ksagorarakis was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Fodor Daniel in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Alketas Bourouselos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Takacs Tibor in the 78th minute of play. Major Barna could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 84th minute of the match, but Alketas Bourouselos made a huge save. Omiros Maniatis kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match.
