The audience was convinced that Felipe Barreto's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Willem-Jan Hollanders was relentless in the 12th minute of the game. In the 13th match minute, Les Bistouquettes Bleues was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jeremey De Messemaecker to maneuver through the defense. Les Bistouquettes Bleues's Willem-Jan Hollanders played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Felipe Barreto in the 31st minute of play. 33 minutes into the match, Felipe Barreto had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Willem-Jan Hollanders. Les Bistouquettes Bleues's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Felipe Barreto was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. Willem-Jan Hollanders made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fabricio Andrade in the 37th minute of play. 39 minutes into the match, Portugal's goal looked a bit too open when Bryan Creemers came free, but Wilson Amorim reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 41 minutes into the match, Felipe Barreto notched a goal, 3-2, to the right of Les Bistouquettes Bleues's Willem-Jan Hollanders. Willem-Jan Hollanders was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-2. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Viriato Moura stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Felipe Barreto in the 51st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Willem-Jan Hollanders prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Willem-Jan Hollanders showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Viriato Moura, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. In the 56th minute, Daniel Pimentel got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Bryan Creemers sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
