In the 22ndth minute of the game Zaccheo Andolina who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Velez Sarsfield's Erwin Huygens was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 23 minutes had been played when some careless play by Velez Sarsfield's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Sigfrido Auletta was slow to take the kick. During this time Italy's players had a chance to rest. 27 minutes into the match, Velez Sarsfield's goal looked a bit too open when Zaccheo Andolina came free, but Erwin Huygens reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
