In the 3rd minute Gustaaf Groeneveldt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kalle Askberg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Kalle Askberg came out of the goal in the 3rd minute to try and stop a shot by Netherlands's Gustaaf Groeneveldt. Arnout Reekers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alf Hansson, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. If Wim Wilmes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kalle Askberg took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gijsbert ter Kruimer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kalle Askberg having to interfere. 39 minutes into the match, Sundborn IF's goal looked a bit too open when Gijsbert ter Kruimer came free, but Kalle Askberg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Wim Wilmes came up free with the goalie in the 47th minute, the Netherlands fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Wim Wilmes couldn't finish the play.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gijsbert ter Kruimer was the one to do the kick off. The Netherlands supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Netherlands would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
