Velez sarsfield's Narciso Frechoso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wim Wilmes in the 16th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 19th minute of play forced Velez sarsfield's goalkeeper Narciso Frechoso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Narciso Frechoso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from David Eikelkamp in the 22nd minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers David Eikelkamp in the 22nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Narciso Frechoso saved Velez sarsfield from getting behind. In the 75th minute Gijsbert ter Kruimer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Narciso Frechoso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Narciso Frechoso made an important save on a dangerous shot by Wim Wilmes in the 96th minute. Netherlands played a much better game than Velez sarsfield and deserved their victory. The Velez sarsfield players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
