Mikolaj Jerzyk showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Antal Valentin, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. Fodor Daniel made a fantastic save in the 9th minute, when Adam Pacholewski sent off a good shot on target. In the 10th minute of the match Newcastle United got a corner. Hungary's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Zé Paulo Zonta ran over to the corner to take the kick. Mikolaj Jerzyk took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Balazs Lajos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Antal Valentin's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mikolaj Jerzyk read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 18th minute of play. In the 24th minute, Antal Valentin left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Hungary fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Olgierd Wojtowicz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 35 minutes into the game, Thomas Vollmar recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Fodor Daniel. Thomas Vollmar showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-1. 38 minutes into the match, Newcastle United's goal looked a bit too open when Major Barna came free, but Mikolaj Jerzyk reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Pankracy Malicki received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Fodor Daniel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Balazs Lajos's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Mikolaj Jerzyk firmly grabbed it by the left post. 61 minutes had been played when some careless play by Newcastle United's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Antal Valentin was slow to take the kick. During this time Hungary's players had a chance to rest. In the 69th minute Takacs Tibor shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mikolaj Jerzyk saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
