In the 7th minute, Nicolás Castillo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 10 minutes into the match, Norrlands Athen's Nicolás Castillo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Wilson Amorim narrowly saved just below the crossbar. A sloppy throw-in by Faustino Almeida in the 12th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Norrlands Athen's Martin Lundin. Nicolás Castillo struck a weak shot in the 15th minute. Wilson Amorim didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Norrlands Athen. After some careless play in the Portugal defense, Nicolás Castillo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Wilson Amorim. The Portugal fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Wilson Amorim should have stopped the shot. Manfred Fribäck showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Viriato Moura, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. After 31 minutes, Caetano Moreira made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. Norrlands Athen's Manfred Fribäck tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. The crowd rose to their feet as Nicolás Castillo kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Wilson Amorim. That made the score 2-1 in the 37 minute of play. Henrik Stor's late challenge caught a Portugal's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Henrik Stor helped the player get up and apologised. Henrik Stor hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. Portugal's Felipe Barreto couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 46th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Norrlands Athen. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Erik Ljusberg was the one to do the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Portugal's goal looked a bit too open when Erik Ljusberg came free, but Wilson Amorim reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Manfred Fribäck took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Viriato Moura, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Manfred Fribäck made an important save on a dangerous shot by Felipe Barreto in the 58th minute. In the 59th minute, Felipe Barreto ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Manfred Fribäck was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-2. Manfred Fribäck took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Viriato Moura, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 63 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Portugal's Viriato Moura fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. Norrlands Athen made a substitution. Gilbert Hermansson replaced Nicolás Castillo. Norrlands Athen's Arvin Låsberg was substituted for Mathias Alrot. Portugal's Bartolomeu Dias was substituted for Viriato Moura. A sloppy throw-in by Jacinto da Silveira in the 73rd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Portugal's Daniel Pimentel. Manfred Fribäck came out of the goal in the 78th minute to try and stop a shot by Portugal's Bartolomeu Dias. But to his dismay, Bartolomeu Dias quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-3. Gilbert Hermansson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Wilson Amorim having to make a save. In the 82nd minute Gilbert Hermansson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wilson Amorim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 83 minutes into the match, Portugal's goal looked a bit too open when Erik Ljusberg came free, but Wilson Amorim reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Wilson Amorim came out of the goal in the 86th minute to try and stop a shot by Norrlands Athen's Arvin Låsberg. But to his dismay, Arvin Låsberg quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-3. Bartolomeu Dias scored 4-4 in the 89th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Manfred Fribäck, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Norrlands Athen's Manfred Fribäck proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 93rd minute of the match, managed to save Norrlands Athen from getting a goal against them. After 95 minutes, Erik Ljusberg mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Norrlands Athen and the Portugal players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 95 played minutes Norrlands Athen got a freekick which was hit by Erik Ljusberg. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
