The Germany fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tommy Kahn should have stopped the shot. Omar Maju fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tommy Kahn having to interfere. The supporters of Capdevilla booed when Germany was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Malte Schiele didn't get a good kick on the ball. Germany's Tommy Kahn proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 47th minute of the match, managed to save Germany from getting a goal against them. Af the end of the first half the score was 4-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When Sven Krakouer fell near the penalty area in the 55th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. Pastor Valery showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Frank Sachs, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. In the 69th minute, Omar Maju got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 73 minutes into the match, Omar Maju notched a goal, 6-0, to the right of Germany's Tommy Kahn. Tommy Kahn was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Chris Mergenthaler hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match.
