Descamisados CF's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jairo Baraquiel was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 41 minutes into the game, Jairo Baraquiel cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Wilson Amorim was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 44 minutes into the match, Descamisados CF's goal looked a bit too open when Viriato Moura came free, but Lawrence Lawless reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Portugal booed when Descamisados CF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Raphael Mazon didn't get a good kick on the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Viriato Moura to make the kick off. Felipinho Amorim ran back to his position shaking his head. Portugal's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
