Casper Claes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Róbson Simões, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. When Elder Santos was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 11 minutes had been played. Elder Santos kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. After having played for 13 minutes, Edward Vanderstraeten managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Belgium's supporters crossed their fingers, but Edward Vanderstraeten was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Reinaldo Trancoso got free with Casper Claes in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Belgium's Edward Vanderstraeten got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Takis Koutsos stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Edward Vanderstraeten's shot from short distance in the 45th minute. After 47 minutes of play, Belgium's Edward Vanderstraeten made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Takis Koutsos was left in no man's land by his defense there! The The Beatles players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Belgium were winning 0-1.

After 56 played minutes Edward Vanderstraeten rounded The Beatles's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 0-3. Edward Vanderstraeten could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 63rd minute of the match, but Takis Koutsos made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edward Vanderstraeten in the 65th minute of play forced The Beatles's goalkeeper Takis Koutsos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 67 minutes of play, Belgium's Edward Vanderstraeten made it 0-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Takis Koutsos was left in no man's land by his defense there! Edward Vanderstraeten's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Takis Koutsos read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 70th minute of play. Edward Vanderstraeten sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Beatles's Frederico Messias was substituted for Reinaldo Trancoso. In the 77th minute, Eusébio Lopes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Edward Vanderstraeten might have been able to make a better finish in the 80th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Takis Koutsos. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Edward Vanderstraeten ran back to his position shaking his head. Takis Koutsos made a fantastic save in the 81st minute, when Edward Vanderstraeten sent off a good shot on target. The Beatles's Takis Koutsos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Yves Dervaux in the 83rd minute of play. Zeca Brodel took the ball and in the 94 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Casper Claes. Casper Claes dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-4. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Belgium eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
