Felipe Barreto hit a great freekick 2 minutes into the match. After 3 played minutes Portugal got a freekick which was hit by Faustino Almeida. In the 4th minute, Don Pico sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Portugal's Wilson Amorim didn't even have to move. C.A. Peñarol's Alirio Ducoing played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Felipe Barreto in the 9th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Hernán Restat in the 10th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Wilson Amorim saved Portugal from getting behind. Brian Åkerberg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Portugal's Wilson Amorim played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Brian Åkerberg in the 14th minute of play. 17 minutes into the game, Valentino Basulto recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Wilson Amorim. Valentino Basulto showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. In the 20thth minute of the game Viriato Moura who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but C.A. Peñarol's Alirio Ducoing was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. C.A. Peñarol's Alirio Ducoing played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Viriato Moura in the 23rd minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hernán Restat got free with Wilson Amorim in the 24th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Felipe Barreto might have been able to make a better finish in the 26th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Alirio Ducoing. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Felipe Barreto ran back to his position shaking his head. Alirio Ducoing made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Felipe Barreto in the 26th minute of play. Wilson Amorim took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Brian Åkerberg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 28 minutes into the match, Portugal's Viriato Moura sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Alirio Ducoing narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 30 minutes into the match, C.A. Peñarol's goal looked a bit too open when Felipe Barreto came free, but Alirio Ducoing reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 32 minutes into the match, Portugal's goal looked a bit too open when Valentino Basulto came free, but Wilson Amorim reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Felipe Barreto in the 33rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Alirio Ducoing saved C.A. Peñarol from getting behind. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Felipe Barreto in the 36th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Alirio Ducoing prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 39 minutes into the match, Portugal's goalkeeper Wilson Amorim had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Berkan Berka. Alirio Ducoing made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Felipe Barreto in the 43rd minute of play. Felipe Barreto got in the 43rd a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Alirio Ducoing handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. Felipe Barreto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 46 minutes into the match, C.A. Peñarol's goal looked a bit too open when Felipe Barreto came free, but Alirio Ducoing reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

The wind increased when Brian Åkerberg made the kick off in the second half. If Brian Åkerberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With his leg Alirio Ducoing managed to avoid a goal in the 53rdth minute, when Portugal's Felipe Barreto fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 56th minute Berkan Berka shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wilson Amorim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, C.A. Peñarol's Alirio Ducoing got control of the ball when Felipe Barreto tried to sneak it across the goal line. Alirio Ducoing made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Viriato Moura in the 59th minute of play. Wilson Amorim made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Berkan Berka in the 61st minute of play. In the 63rd minute Berkan Berka shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wilson Amorim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 65 minutes into the match, C.A. Peñarol's goalkeeper Alirio Ducoing had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Felipe Barreto. In the 70th minute Brian Åkerberg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wilson Amorim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Wilson Amorim stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Brian Åkerberg's shot from short distance in the 71st minute. Felipe Barreto could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 74th minute of the match, but Alirio Ducoing made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Caetano Moreira in the 76th minute of play forced C.A. Peñarol's goalkeeper Alirio Ducoing to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, C.A. Peñarol's Alirio Ducoing got control of the ball when Felipe Barreto tried to sneak it across the goal line. 82 minutes into the game, Portugal's Felipe Barreto nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Alirio Ducoing made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Portugal made a substitution. Bartolomeu Dias replaced Viriato Moura. C.A. Peñarol made a substitution. Anselmo Velin replaced Valentino Basulto. C.A. Peñarol made a substitution. Mörður Filt replaced Brian Åkerberg. Portugal's Felipinho Amorim was substituted for Felipe Barreto. Felipinho Amorim received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Alirio Ducoing came out and tried to block the shot, but Felipinho Amorim slotted it home off the left post making it 1-2 in the 87th minute. In the 90th minute, Graciano Coutinho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Wilson Amorim showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Don Pico in the 91st minute of the match. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Portugal walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
