ŞAHŞEHRİYAR FK's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. In the 9th minute Patrick Carneiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnout Reekers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Eddy Rüegsegger recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 14th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Taha Günden showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wim Wilmes, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. Hazım Başdoğan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 26th minute, Gustaaf Groeneveldt left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Netherlands fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 33rd minute of play forced ŞAHŞEHRİYAR FK's goalkeeper Taha Günden to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Taha Günden took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lars Meesters, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, ŞAHŞEHRİYAR FK's Samir Hazlan got a free kick in the 40th minute. Gustaaf Groeneveldt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

The wind increased when Gijsbert ter Kruimer made the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Wim Wilmes got free with Taha Günden in the 52nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Patrick Carneiro in the 53rd minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gustaaf Groeneveldt got free with Taha Günden in the 57th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Göktürk Tuncal's late challenge caught a Netherlands's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Göktürk Tuncal helped the player get up and apologised. Lars Meesters's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Taha Günden read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 65th minute of play. Taha Günden made a fantastic save in the 66th minute, when Gustaaf Groeneveldt sent off a good shot on target. Taha Günden made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 81st minute of play. ŞAHŞEHRİYAR FK's Taha Günden played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wim Wilmes in the 84th minute of play. In the 85th minute, one of Netherlands:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Netherlands. Hazım Başdoğan shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. In the 88th minute Lars Meesters shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Taha Günden saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 92nd minute, Eddy Rüegsegger left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The ŞAHŞEHRİYAR FK fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. Taha Günden showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 96th minute of the match. Netherlands's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because ŞAHŞEHRİYAR FK had won, even though Netherlands had held more of the ball.
