After 4 played minutes AIF got a freekick which was hit by Bror Skoog. The audience was convinced that Ricardo Weterio's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sven-Olof Ahlroht was relentless in the 6th minute of the game. Ricardo Weterio's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sven-Olof Ahlroht read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 8th minute of play. 9 minutes into the game, Benjamin Tolsson was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. AIF's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA the free kick. After 9 played minutes AIF got a freekick which was hit by Benjamin Tolsson. After a rather tough play, AIF's Stefan Collin got a free kick in the 13th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Stefan Collin got free with Tautvydas Mickevičius in the 19th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Damaso Checa hit a great ball. Karl-Michael Bergstedt took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 22nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Tautvydas Mickevičius. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Tautvydas Mickevičius stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Bror Skoog's shot from short distance in the 27th minute. Birger Engström could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 30th minute of the match, but Tautvydas Mickevičius made a huge save. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Tautvydas Mickevičius proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 34th minute of the match, managed to save ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA from getting a goal against them. After some fancy dribbling in the 36th minute, Constantino Quinton managed to get in a good position for a shot. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's supporters rose to their feet, but Constantino Quinton was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sven-Olof Ahlroht breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ricardo Weterio in the 37th minute of play forced AIF's goalkeeper Sven-Olof Ahlroht to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 40th minute, Birger Engström hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. AIF's Sven-Olof Ahlroht played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ricardo Weterio in the 42nd minute of play. In the 47th match minute, ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alan Berse to maneuver through the defense. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ricardo Weterio was the one to do the kick off. Henning Strandberg kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. Sven-Olof Ahlroht made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gogo Azibar in the 54th minute. After having played for 61 minutes, Ricardo Weterio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ricardo Weterio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ricardo Weterio struck a weak shot in the 64th minute. Sven-Olof Ahlroht didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA. When Bror Skoog came up free with the goalie in the 72nd minute, the AIF fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bror Skoog couldn't finish the play. A collision led to AIF getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Christer Strömbom hit a great ball. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA were awarded a corner in the 77th minute after AIF's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Gogo Azibar took the corner. Gogo Azibar made a great header on ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's corner, it was just that AIF's Sven-Olof Ahlroht managed to reach the ball for a save. Stefan Collin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tautvydas Mickevičius having to interfere. Alan Berse kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. Tautvydas Mickevičius took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Stefan Collin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, AIF's Sven-Olof Ahlroht got control of the ball when Ricardo Weterio tried to sneak it across the goal line. Bror Skoog recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
