Portugal's Daniel Pimentel managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Sándor Fenyvessy in the 10 minute of the game. If Felipe Barreto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Fernando Prassov made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Felipe Barreto in the 14th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 25 minutes, Christian Vieri put it in 2-0 from a short distance just to the right of Wilson Amorim. In the 27th match minute, Green Hell F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alberigo Balzani to maneuver through the defense. Daniil Asimakopoulos might have been able to make a better finish in the 32nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Wilson Amorim. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Daniil Asimakopoulos ran back to his position shaking his head. Alberigo Balzani kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. In the 35th match minute, Green Hell F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alain Duarte to maneuver through the defense. Christian Vieri blasted a shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Wilson Amorim having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Christian Vieri in the 37th minute of play forced Portugal's goalkeeper Wilson Amorim to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Felipe Barreto might have been able to make a better finish in the 40th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Fernando Prassov. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Felipe Barreto ran back to his position shaking his head. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Christian Vieri in the 44th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Wilson Amorim saved Portugal from getting behind. In the 45th minute of the match Green Hell F.C. got a corner. Portugal's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Christian Vieri ran over to the corner to take the kick. 47 minutes into the match, Green Hell F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Viriato Moura came free, but Fernando Prassov reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 47 minutes, Viriato Moura made it 2-1 with a short kick to the right side. Green Hell F.C.'s Fernando Prassov tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Christian Vieri to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Viriato Moura in the 64th minute of play forced Green Hell F.C.'s goalkeeper Fernando Prassov to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 66th minute Caetano Moreira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fernando Prassov saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Christian Vieri was slow to take the kick. During this time Green Hell F.C.'s players had a chance to rest. Christian Vieri made a great header on Green Hell F.C.'s corner, it was just that Portugal's Wilson Amorim managed to reach the ball for a save. After 99 minutes, Caetano Moreira mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Portugal and the Green Hell F.C. players grew even worse after the yellow card.
