In the 6th minute GD Fiães were awarded a corner. Telmo Teves went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Telmo Teves got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Arnout Reekers quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Lars Meesters scored 0-1 in the 8th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Cassiano Mendonça, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 11th minute, Gijsbert ter Kruimer ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Cassiano Mendonça was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. A collision led to GD Fiães getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Maurício Câmara hit a great ball. Telmo Tevess short, quick shot in the 21stth minute got Arnout Reekers to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Arnout Reekers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Maurício Câmara, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. Telmo Teves made a great header on GD Fiães's corner, it was just that Netherlands's Arnout Reekers managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 25th minute Gijsbert ter Kruimer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cassiano Mendonça saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gijsbert ter Kruimer scored 0-3 in the 25th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Cassiano Mendonça, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Cassiano Mendonça made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 28th minute of play. A collision led to GD Fiães getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Angélico Vilar hit a great ball. In the 41st minute, Lars Meesters made a precise shot to the right of Cassiano Mendonça. GD Fiães's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-4. Arnout Reekers made an important save on a dangerous shot by Telmo Teves in the 47th minute. After the first half Netherlands were leading 0-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gijsbert ter Kruimer made a kick off. Gustaaf Groeneveldt's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Cassiano Mendonça firmly grabbed it by the left post. In the 58th minute of the match Netherlands got a corner. GD Fiães's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gijsbert ter Kruimer ran over to the corner to take the kick. Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Cassiano Mendonça in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Arnout Reekers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Telmo Teves in the 60th minute of the match. In the 62nd minute GD Fiães were awarded a corner. Telmo Teves went to the cornerflag to take it. After 65 minutes, Gijsbert ter Kruimer made it 0-5 with a short kick to the right side. GD Fiães's Cassiano Mendonça tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. GD Fiães's Delyan Temelyotev was substituted for Severiano Calado. If Gijsbert ter Kruimer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. GD Fiães's Adão Anjos was substituted for Maurício Câmara. In the 74th minute, GD Fiães's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Gijsbert ter Kruimer fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. In the 75th minute Gijsbert ter Kruimer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cassiano Mendonça saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 81 minutes into the match, GD Fiães's goalkeeper Cassiano Mendonça had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt. In the 83rd minute, Netherlands's Wim Wilmes dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-6. When the final whistle sounded Netherlands left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than GD Fiães.
