Guido Emennegger stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Chris Nygaard's shot from short distance in the 5th minute. When the match clock showed 6 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Chris Nygaard sped through FC Lugano's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Guido Emennegger. In the 9th minute, Bertram Svenningsen left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Denmark fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. In the 13th minute, Chris Nygaard made a precise shot to the right of Guido Emennegger. FC Lugano's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. In the 16th minute, Chris Nygaard ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Guido Emennegger was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-4. Guido Emennegger came out of the goal in the 19th minute to try and stop a shot by Denmark's Chris Nygaard. But to his dismay, Chris Nygaard quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-5. Guido Emennegger didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Chris Nygaard went, in the 22nd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-6 was the resulting score. Guido Emennegger showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Chris Nygaard, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. In the 33rd minute of the game Bjarne Kirkegaard made a throw-in which Bertram Svenningsen played forward. Mikkel Wulff sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Chris Nygaard in the 36th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Guido Emennegger saved FC Lugano from getting behind. After having played for 37 minutes, Bertram Svenningsen managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Denmark's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bertram Svenningsen was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 40th minute Chris Nygaard shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Guido Emennegger saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Guido Emennegger stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Chris Nygaard's shot from short distance in the 46th minute. In the 47th minute, Chris Nygaard left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Denmark fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-7. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-7.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Florian Diederich was the one to do the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Jirko Bur managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Lugano's supporters rose to their feet, but Jirko Bur was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Keld Paulsen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 58th minute, Chris Nygaard reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Guido Emennegger. The goal made the score 0-8. Chris Nygaard scored 0-9 in the 64th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Guido Emennegger, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Guido Emennegger took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bjarne Kirkegaard, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Guido Emennegger stood somewhat misplaced when Chris Nygaard came free in front of goal and shot 0-10 to the left of him in the 69 minute. After some careless play in the FC Lugano defense, Chris Nygaard kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Guido Emennegger. The FC Lugano fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Guido Emennegger should have stopped the shot. FC Lugano's Godo Gøl managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Kenn Skou in the 75 minute of the game. After 76 played minutes FC Lugano got a freekick which was hit by Tade Zeller. Lars Steen kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Chris Nygaard in the 81st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Guido Emennegger saved FC Lugano from getting behind. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Chris Nygaard in the 83rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Guido Emennegger prevented the ball from getting in the gole. FC Lugano's Guido Emennegger played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Olav Graversen in the 84th minute of play. In the 88th minute Chris Nygaard shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Guido Emennegger saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Denmark's Kenn Skou got a free kick in the 90th minute. Chris Nygaard sent away a hard shot on goal in the 98th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
