Tirant lo Blanch's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Wim Wilmes was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. When Juan Sánchez fell near the penalty area in the 7th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Tirant lo Blanch's protests and gave Juan Sánchez a yellow card for diving instead. In the 7th match minute, Tirant lo Blanch was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Juan Sánchez to maneuver through the defense. Luis-Antonio Jurado took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 10th minute, Gustaaf Groeneveldt managed to get in a good position for a shot. Netherlands's supporters rose to their feet, but Gustaaf Groeneveldt was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luis-Antonio Jurado breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 13th minute Wim Wilmes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luis-Antonio Jurado saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 14 minutes into the game, Alanzo Cabezas was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Tirant lo Blanch's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Netherlands the free kick. Alanzo Cabezas hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. Luis-Antonio Jurado showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. Luis-Antonio Jurado showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 16th minute of the match. 20 minutes into the match, Gijsbert ter Kruimer notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Tirant lo Blanch's Luis-Antonio Jurado. Luis-Antonio Jurado was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 24 minutes into the game, Netherlands's Gustaaf Groeneveldt nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Luis-Antonio Jurado made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. With his leg Arnout Reekers managed to avoid a goal in the 30thth minute, when Tirant lo Blanch's Juan Sánchez fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Gustaaf Groeneveldt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Luis-Antonio Jurado tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gijsbert ter Kruimer might have been able to make a better finish in the 42nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Luis-Antonio Jurado. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gijsbert ter Kruimer ran back to his position shaking his head. 43 minutes into the game, Gustaaf Groeneveldt cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-4. Luis-Antonio Jurado was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-4.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gijsbert ter Kruimer to make the kick off. Gustaaf Groeneveldt scored 0-5 in the 53rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Luis-Antonio Jurado, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Gustaaf Groeneveldt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luis-Antonio Jurado having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gustaaf Groeneveldt got free with Luis-Antonio Jurado in the 59th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 61st minute, Tirant lo Blanch's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Gustaaf Groeneveldt fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. After a rather tough play, Tirant lo Blanch's Osmundo Flores got a free kick in the 63rd minute. Gijsbert ter Kruimer struck a weak shot in the 69th minute. Luis-Antonio Jurado didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Netherlands. 69 minutes in the game, Gijsbert ter Kruimer dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. With a little luck, Tirant lo Blanch's Luis-Antonio Jurado got control of the ball when Wim Wilmes tried to sneak it across the goal line. Gijsbert ter Kruimer succeeded in the game's 72nd minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 0-6. In the 77th minute, Netherlands's Gustaaf Groeneveldt dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-7. A collision led to Tirant lo Blanch getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Asier Checa hit a great ball. 84 minutes into the match, Gustaaf Groeneveldt dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Luis-Antonio Jurado, 0-8. Txema Mudarra kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. Lars Meesters sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Wim Wilmes came up free with the goalie in the 90th minute, the Netherlands fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Wim Wilmes couldn't finish the play. In the 92nd minute, Wim Wilmes ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Luis-Antonio Jurado was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-9. Netherlands played a much better game than Tirant lo Blanch and deserved their victory. The Tirant lo Blanch players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
