In the 4th minute of the match Alexandru Tudorică shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Wilson Amorim showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. A collision led to Portugal getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Raul Caetano hit a great ball. Alexandru Tudorică recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 6th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 10th minute, Viriato Moura hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Wilson Amorim showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Manole Frunză, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. Wilson Amorim took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alexandru Tudorică, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 14 minutes into the match, Portugal's goalkeeper Wilson Amorim had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jyrki Saarelainen. Victor Negara made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Pimentel in the 20th minute of play. Portugal's Wilson Amorim played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Shen Xi Bang in the 27th minute of play. In the 34th minute, Shen Xi Bang made a precise shot to the right of Wilson Amorim. Portugal's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Felipe Barreto might have been able to make a better finish in the 37th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Victor Negara. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Felipe Barreto ran back to his position shaking his head. Victor Negara showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Felipe Barreto, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. Wilson Amorim made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jyrki Saarelainen in the 39th minute. When the match clock showed 42 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Felipe Barreto sped through Rovine Craiova's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Victor Negara. Nicolae Negrilă hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Manole Frunză was the one to do the kick off. Wilson Amorim made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Manole Frunză in the 51st minute of play. In the 53rd match minute, Rovine Craiova was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alexandru Tudorică to maneuver through the defense. Felipe Barreto could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 57th minute of the match, but Victor Negara made a huge save. Victor Negara showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Felipe Barreto in the 61st minute of the match. In the 62nd minute Alexandru Tudorică shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wilson Amorim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rovine Craiova's Victor Negara played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Viriato Moura in the 64th minute of play. Rovine Craiova's Victor Negara proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 67th minute of the match, managed to save Rovine Craiova from getting a goal against them. Portugal's Felipinho Amorim was substituted for Felipe Barreto. Portugal were awarded a corner in the 72th minute after Rovine Craiova's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Pimentel took the corner. In the 96th minute, Caetano Moreira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 97 minutes into the match, Rovine Craiova's Alexandru Tudorică sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Wilson Amorim narrowly saved just below the crossbar.
